Wang Jianling: My name in Wang Jianling and I am headmaster of the Jiaxing Nanhu International Experimental School.

Anton Tscherne: When was the school started?

Wang Jianling: The school was started in 1998.

Anton Tscherne: How many teachers are at this school?

Wang Jianling: We have 98 teachers from China and 8 teachers from foreign countries.

Anton Tscherne: How many students are there in the school?

Wang Jianling: There are 1428 students in grades 1-6 and 900 students in grades 7-9.

Anton Tscherne: This is a boarding school where the students live and eat. Can you tell me the cost for 1 year of education at your school?

Wang Jianling: The cost for 1 year is 30,000 RMB.

Anton Tscherne: Are the public schools free in China？

Wang Jianling: The public schools in China are free for grades 2-9.

Anton Tscherne: What is the schools philosophy?

Wang Jianling: The Jiaxing Nanhu International Experimental School is “Supreme Grade, Innovative advancement and International Convergence school. This school is the first Experimental Middle School in Jiaxing to feature international education.

Anton Tscherne: What course program is taught at the school?

Wang Jianling: The school has introduced the Canadian ESL courses which are taught by foreign teachers to help immerse students in a good English learning atmosphere.

Anton Tscherne: Can you explain briefly the Canadian ESL courses.

Wang Jianling: These courses are a systemic course for learning English. It is designed to give students a real English learning environment to practice their communication skills. This course is offered 2 or 3 times per week and is taught by foreign teachers. When they graduate they will be given the English Language Test organized by the International Education office of Vancouver. Students that pass the test are issued an English Language certificate which is equivalent to the proficiency levels of high schools subject to Vancouver Education Bureau. Students having finished this course can basically adapt to the pure English speaking environment of high school class abroad and reach 7-9 levels of the new English syllabus at home.

Anton Tscherne: Does your school cooperate with schools overseas?

Wang Jianling: Yes. The school cooperates with prestigious overseas schools. Our underlying goal is to consider a students lifelong development and lay a sturdy foundation for their lifelong education.

Anton Tscherne: How many classes of English are there every week?

Wang Jianling: There are 7 classes weekly for English and also evening reviews.

Anton Tscherne: What are the main courses of your school?

Wang Jianling: The main courses are: Chinese, English, Mathematics and science.

Anton Tscherne: About how many students from your school go to study overseas?

Wang Jianling: About two-thirds of the students.

Anton Tscherne: Do you have extra school activities?

Wang Jianling: Yes. We have professional tennis coaches give students systematic instructions. Since the tennis team started 4 years ago some students have had success at domestic and international competitions. The school has 2 indoor stadiums.
